Wow, this is the last update ! Top Gun actress Kelly McGillis has now confirmed that she is indeed a lesbian, after denying the rumors for years.

Kelly McGillis, 51, played Tom Cruise’s love interest in the movie “Top Gun”, but has been rumored to be gay for many years now. Before now, McGillis denied those rumors.

But McGillis finally “came out of the closet”‘ in an interview with lesbian website SheWired.com. Kelly was asked if she was looking for a man or woman, and she stated her next partner would “definitely be a woman”.

She added: ‘I’m done with the man thing. I did that, I need to move on in life.

‘It’s a part of being true to yourself. That’s been a challenge for me.’

KellyMcGillis has been married and divorce twice already. She has two daughters, Kelsey, 19, and Sonora, 16, from her 13-year marriage to California millionaire Fred Tillian. The couple divorced in 2002.

Kelly said it was hard for her to accept being lesbian. “I think that was an ongoing process from the time I was probably 12. It was a long arduous journey for me. I had a lot of bad things happen to me that made me think God was punishing me for being gay. Life is a freaking journey about coming to terms with who and what you are.”

In 2000, Kelly fueled rumors about her sexuality after doing a lesbian sex scene in thriller “The Monkey’s Mask”.

Around that time, she said: “I knew this movie would start all that lesbian thing up again and it doesn’t bother me. It isn’t about me coming out but if people want to think that, that’s fine. I don’t care. If anyone has a problem with the scenes, they can kiss my big, fat butt.”

Kelly was assaulted and raped in her New York apartment by convicted rapist Leroy Johnson back in the eighties. Three years ago, he made an apology to the actress after he was convicted of raping two other women.

McGillis, 51, said she would like to return to acting now that her children have grown up.
